The translucent surrounds for app icons are there

Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation seems to have a few novelties up its sleeve when it comes to the Android mobile phones it delivered or is about to deliver to the market. The company was said not too long ago to plan the launch of a nice range of new Android devices during the first half of the next year, and one of the handsets there, the HTC Espresso, was said to become a successor for the HTC Hero.

The upcoming HTC Espresso has emerged into the wild a few times before, in a series of leaked photos and shots, and one of the leaks brought to the surface some images with the HTC Sense UI it is expected to arrive on the market with. The screenshots showed that the app icons are to receive translucent surrounds when the phone comes to the market, yet now one can take a closer look at what else the UI should deliver, via the video below.

A leaked version of Espresso Android ROM has been loaded on the HTC Hero, and both of them play together in the video attached at the bottom of this article (via mobiletechworld). Since those app icons seem a little bit strange, you might not actually like the new UI, especially if you are already accustomed with what the Hero looks like at the moment. On the other hand, the new UI still comes with some appealing features, including a new launcher bar at the bottom.

It should be interesting to see whether HTC plans on delivering the UI to more handsets. The company announced before that it would make Sense available for more of its phones, and you might know already that the Windows Mobile-based HTC HD2 already received it, so it would be possible for an updated Sense solution to come to a wider range of HTC phones. However, nothing is yet official or solid, so things might change in the future. Stay tuned to learn more.
