A new Android-based device is now available for purchase in Canada, namely the HTC 6250, which was recently released on MTS' airwaves. The handset is none other than the already popular HTC Hero, though it is the chin-less Hero model that was released on Sprint's airwaves last year, and not the European flavor of the device.

According to the wireless carrier, the new device is available for purchase on its airwaves for only $99.99 upon the signing of a 36-month contract and min $39.99 voice and data plan. However, those who would like to get the phone but do not want to commit to such a lengthy contract would find it available on other offers too, including a 24-month contract option on the same monthly plan, which has the HTC 6250 available for $199.99.

Among the specifications the handset comes to the market with in Canada, we can count support for Dual Band: 800/1900 MHz CDMA 1xEVDORev. A frequencies, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity options, 3.5mm headset jack, or a battery that can offer up to 250 minutes (4.16 hours) of talk time or up to 360 hours (15 days) of standby time.

Other features of the mobile phone include a 3.2-inch touchscreen display that can boast a 320 x 480 pixel (HVGA) resolution, a 5.0-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and video recording capabilities, 512 MB of internal memory complemented by microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, built-in GPS receiver, and more.

The Android-based HTC 6250 comes with pre-loaded applications such as Google Talk, Google Maps, Google Navigator, Gmail, or YouTube, as well as with support for social networking destinations, including Facebook, Flickr, and Twitter. It also supports viewing of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint files, as well as fast Internet browsing. The phone is available for purchase at MTS here.
