It seems that one of the most anticipated Windows Mobile devices is getting closer to the launch date. The O2 XDA trion is the new name of the XDA Hermes model, as appears on O2's German website.

Initially announced with a 300 Mhz processor, the PDA gained a speed boost and now features a 400 Mhz Samsung ARM CPU. Another modification is a pair of extra buttons added around the keypad, one for the Start menu and one for OK/closing applications.

O2 XDA trion is a quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and UMTS (with a later upgrade option to HSDPA) phone with dual cameras: a 2 megapixel camera placed on the back of the device and a QCIF camera on the front intended for video telephony.

The device has 128 MB ROM and 64 MB RAM, expandable via microSD cards, Bluetooth (with support for Bluetooth stereo headsets) and W-LAN/WiFi.

The O2 XDA trion will be available for 299,99 Euro with a 2 year contract. The release date is scheduled for July 2006.
