HTC teases big strategy for the premium handset market

HTC took a big risk when it chose to unveil its latest flagship, the One M9, hours before Samsung launched its overly-hyped Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

But the company doesn’t seem to be worried about Samsung eclipsing its new product or that rivals such as Apple will continue to eat up its fragile market share.

Now that the HTC One M9 is out and about, it remains to be seen if smartphone enthusiasts will end up choosing the new Galaxy S6 over it or continue to go for the iPhone 6.

HTC is cooking up a strategy to obliterate the competition

A report coming out of Business Insider reveals that HTC has a big plan to convince customers that the One M9 is worth their money while the iPhone 6 not so much.

Things are shifting in the mobile ecosystem. Three years ago, Samsung was riding the wave, collecting orders from every direction, but 2014 was the year of damnation for the Korean tech giant.

The Galaxy S5 was considered a major flop in the company’s portfolio, and in 2015 the device maker is hoping to make the world forget about last year’s fiasco with new and refreshed handset models.

HTC sits on a similar story. The company has consistently launched capable phones, but the big challenge is to show consumers that its products have something more over other Android and iOS phones.

But HTC isn’t sitting idly for a miracle to happen. According to HTC President of the Americas, Jason Mackenzie, the company is gearing up to launch a program that will help customers better differentiate between the pack of Android devices and iPhones out there.

We'll see the HTC One M9 soon enough

The announcement will be made sometime later this spring, before the HTC One M9 actually becomes available for purchase in the US and beyond.

We’re not sure what the company’s plans are exactly, because Mackenzie wouldn’t say anything on the matter. So we’re left wondering whether HTC will unveil some sort of new service or will offer replacements for your iPhone / Android phone. Your guess is as good as ours.

The HTC One M9 arrives with a similar design as the previous One M8 and is the third phone to be announced with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 on the inside.
