Today, wireless carrier Telstra has made available for purchase in Australia a new device powered by Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 operating system, namely the HTC HD7. The new smartphone was launched back in October 2010, and Telstra committed at that time to bringing it to its airwaves, but it was only today that it actually did that.

The smartphone sports the largest touchscreen display available on a Windows phone 7 device at the moment, while also sporting a series of high-end appealing features.

Mobile phone users in Australia already have at their disposal two other Windows Phone 7 devices on Telstra's network.

“The HTC HD7 is our third Windows Phone 7 device and it sports a massive 4.3 inch high-resolution screen and flip-out kickstand that allows you to watch movies hands free,” the wireless carrier notes.

“Like all Windows Phone 7 smartphones, navigation, composing email and accessing information is incredibly easy – especially on the big screen,” Telstra continues.

One of the main features of the device would be the inclusion of the latest flavor of the Windows Phone 7 platform on it, with copy&paste functionality available right out of the box.

The smartphone comes to the market with a 4.3 inch touch screen with 480 X 800 resolution, and a 5.0 megapixel color camera on the back, with auto focus, LED flash, and 720p HD video recording capabilities.

The features list of the new device would also include Xbox LIVE gaming capabilities, Pictures hub with access to photos from the phone's camera, or Facebook and Windows Live accounts, or the Music and Videos Hub powered by Zune, for enhanced entertainment on the go.

The HTC HD7 also comes with HTC Surround Sound, as well as with WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities, 3G support, the whole range of usual sensors on smartphones, and with support for various applications available from the Windows Phone Marketplace.

Starting today, March 29th, the new HTC HD7 Windows Phone 7 device is available in Australia through Telstra Stores and partners.

“The HTC HD7 can be purchased on Telstra’s new Freedom Connect Plans including on the $59 Freedom Connect Plan with a mobile repayment option of $17 per month, after using an included MRO Bonus (for eligible customers), for 24 months (min cost is $1,824),” Telstra notes.

“This plan includes $550 worth of eligible calls, unlimited standard national text and 1.5GB of data to use in Australia,” the wireless carrier concludes.
