WM6.5 ROMs also available

Windows Mobile enthusiasts up for trying a few new goodies beside what a stock ROM for their device can offer have now new options to do so, in case they own an HTC HD2 mobile phone. The guys over at XDA-Developers came up with new ROMs for the device, enabling those interested in this to taste a little of what Windows Mobile 6.5.3 can offer, among other.

Nothing is official, but those already familiar with the long series of leaked Builds for the Windows Mobile operating system should know that already. HTC HD2 has recently seen a leaked ROM version 2.01 for T-Mobile US, and it seems that some of the goodies that were there have been included in the new ROM too, such as the HTC Sense version 2.5.19222911.0, which reportedly comes with support for Documents Tab and Landscape mode.

As this article on WMPoweruser shows, there are also some other WM6.5 ROMs available for the high-end device, though they might not provide the same list of features as the Windows Mobile 6.5.3 ROM does. Those interested in trying out a new ROM on their HTC HD2 should make sure they know what the process involves, so as not to brick their handsets.

And since we're in the leaked ROMs for the HD2 area, we should also note that there is an SSPL version for the device available from the XDA devs. What it is all about is simple: one can use it to flash the HTC HD2 with unsigned/cooked ROMs. However, it seems that it won’t allow for the SPL or the Radio to be flashed. More details on how it works can be found in the video below.

It can only flash Splashes and OS images, since the SPL and Radio flashing have been disabled, yet it seems that it is a simpler way of making the move than HSPL is, and it also seems to be better, as the SPL is not changed, meaning that one should not void warranty. However, the solution is only in beta testing, and it should not be applied by those unfamiliar with the process, as this post on forum.xda-developers notes.
