Taiwan-based mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has announced today that the highly anticipated Windows Mobile 6.5-powered HTC HD2 smartphone is already shipping on the European market, and that it will arrive in Taiwan via Taiwan Mobile starting with mid-November. In addition, the company has also stated that the new phone will reach other Asian markets in December, and that United States users will be able to enjoy its features in early 2010.

“The HD2's amazing customer experience is a testament to the close partnership between HTC and Microsoft and we're excited to be bringing the HD2 to Taiwan and the United States,” said HTC Corporation chief executive officer, Peter Chou. “The HD2 is the first Windows phone with HTC SenseTM, an HTC user experience focused on making the phone more simple and natural to use and by enabling people to personalize their mobile experience in their own unique way.”

The new HTC HD2 is the first Windows Mobile-based handset from HTC to also sport the company's HTC Sense, solution, which is aimed at putting people in the center by offering them a more simple way of working with their phones. The device comes with a 4.3-inch capacitive touch display, an ultra-thin form factor, and can deliver more visible content in a richer way, the mobile phone maker added.

“Working with HTC, we've delivered great phones that help customers connect to the people and information they care about, wherever they are,” said Microsoft Corp. chief executive officer, Steve Ballmer. “The HTC HD2 shows what's possible through our close partnership with HTC and it breaks new ground for Windows phones by delivering a beautiful multi-touch screen that people will love.” The HTC HD2, as many of you might already know, is also the first handset powered by Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system that includes a capacitive touchscreen display. It comes with Qualcomm's new 1Ghz Snapdragon mobile processor and can handle Microsoft Office files, PDF documents and pictures much easier than other devices. Moreover, the HTC Sense solution, based on three principles, Make it Mine, Stay Close and Discover the Unexpected, is also able to enhance the user experience.
