Taiwan-based mobile phone maker HTC Corporation announced today the launch of its latest Windows Mobile-based device on the Hong Kong market. The handset, none other than the HTC HD mini, comes with the company's HTC Sense solution on board, and can offer the popular experience users receive from the high-end HTC HD2 in a more compact design, the company notes.

“The demand for the HTC HD2 has exceeded our expectations, and the HTC HD mini fulfils a desire from some customers to bring the capabilities and experience of the HTC HD2 to a more compact design,” said Peter Chou, chief executive officer, HTC Corporation. “The integration of HTC Sense and Windows Phone on HD mini and HD2 gives customers an additional choice for an advanced Windows mobile phone that is sleek, well crafted and easy to use.”

The new HTC HD mini comes with enhanced usability, while also sporting a unique and appealing design, HTC states. The phone displays a high level of craftsmanship that can rarely be found on mobile phones, and the design goes all the way under the battery cover, boasting a bright yellow internal structure.

The device comes with the HTC Sense solution on board, offering a mobile experience focused on putting people in the center through making the handset work in a simpler and more natural way. There are three main principles the software solution is based on, including Make It Mine, Stay Close and Discover the Unexpected.

“Like the HTC HD2, the HTC HD mini continues the same focus on people-centric communication with complete Outlook integration. It helps you stay close to the important friends and colleagues in your life by providing a single contact view that displays individual communication snapshots of your conversations, regardless of whether it was a call, text, status update or email. HTC’s Windows-based Twitter application, HTC Peep, enables you to tweet and follow your twitter stream,” the handset vendor notes.

Moreover, the HD mini also comes with capacitive touch functionality, so that users can easily view, zoom and resize websites, Microsoft Office files, PDF documents and pictures, the device also includes 3G connectivity options, and offers a personal Wi-Fi anywhere one is needed so that users can connect other devices. Users can also personalize their experience by downloading and installing apps from the Windows Marketplace for Mobile.

According to HTC, the HTC HD mini is set to become available on the Hong Kong market by end of March, while sporting a suggested retail price of HKD $3,898 (about $500 USD). Those interested in the device will find it available through HTC authorized dealers (CSL, PCCW, Broadway, Chung Yuen, Citicall, Fortress, Leading, Wilson and CTM), and will receive an 8GB micro SD card for free.
