If the GoPro is not for you, HTC may provide an alternative

In an earlier piece we talked about Ricoh Imaging taking a go at the GoPro-dominated camera market, with its latest rugged WG-M1 mini action camera.

Now it appears the life-logging family will have a brand new competitor, coming from a company that’s normally known for its smartphone business.

As Bloomberg reports, HTC is apparently in the midst of preparing for taking off a GoPro-style camera coming with a 16-megapixel camera, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The product will also be able to connect to Android and iOS phones (and probably tablets).

The company has been sending out invites for a press event scheduled for next month and the waterproof camera is on the list as being one of the products the company is set on unveiling.

Apart from that, the device maker is also expected to launch a new smartphone optimized for selfies.

It seems devices used to record every single moment of your existence are becoming more and more popular.

The GoPro cameras are widely known for their popularity and the team behind the friendly, little snappers has recently rolled out a variation for dogs, which lets owners track the whereabouts of their pets. It’s a little odd that HTC is looking to make an entry on the market, but we’ll see how this goes.
