Starting today, users in the United States interested in the purchase of a new HTC First smartphone can do so, as the handset went up for sale through the carrier’s retail channels, including its online store.

Made official on April 4, HTC First has been available for pre-order at the wireless carrier ever since that day, with the first units set to start shipping to users on April 10.

Today, however, the smartphone was made available for purchase through AT&T’s brick and mortar stores, as well as online on its website. The smartphone is an AT&T-exclusive in the United States.

It can be seen listed on this page, with a price tag of $99.99 (€76) attached to it, with the signing of a two-year contract agreement. The contract-free price tag for the smartphone is set at $449.99 (€343).

The main selling point of this device is the new Facebook Home set of applications that come pre-loaded on it right from the start.

It is the first and only handset to sport the feature from the get-go, though its hardware specifications are not as impressive as one might have wanted them to be.

HTC First features a 4.3-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, a 1.4GHz dual-core processor inside, and 1GB of RAM.

Furthermore, the smartphone packs 16GB of internal memory, a 2000 mAh non removable battery, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, Mobile Hotspot capabilities, 4G LTE and HSPA+ connectivity, and Micro-USB port.

On the back, HTC First sports a 5-megapixel photo snapper with LED flash and support for full HD video recording, complemented by a 1.6MP front camera for making video calls.

Running under Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, the handset also sports the Google Chrome browser, pre-loaded Instagram application, Google Talk, Facebook Messenger, Google Play Music, and the like.
