HTC has been preparing a large number of surprises for their customers. We are not talking only about the highly evolved smartphones piling up for future releases, but also about some upgrades. HTC S620 (Excalibur) is about to receive Windows Mobile 6, although it is not yet sure when exactly that will happen.

Smartphones working on Windows Mobile 5 operating system now belong to the past, as the sixth version of the software has been used on most of the newly launched devices. Handsets capable of high performances, but working on outdated software now have a second chance, with the possibility of upgrading to higher versions.

HTC has already started to replace Windows Mobile 5 on some of their devices, looking to continue with all the remaining ones. HTC S620 Excalibur is the next in line, although the exact date when this will happen has not been revealed yet.

The Excalibur has a 200 MHz OMAP 850 processor that could very well support the latest Windows Mobile version. This device's most important capability is that of HTML email support, which generally works great with QWERTY keypads. The software upgrade will make the best of this performance and will also bring improved versions of Office applications.

In order to benefit from HTC's upgrades, users must sign in the company's eClub and then just follow the installation steps. A Windows Mobile 6 upgrade has already been available for two weeks for the HTC TyTN phone model. Those interested in upgrading this Pocket PC to the latest OS version can do it here.

The update that HTC Excalibur is about to receive will also work well on other handset models coming from this company, including HTC P3300 and Advantage X7500. They will start being available sometime in August, without mentioning the exact date when this will happen.
