One of the yet unannounced mobile phones that should soon land in users hands in the United States is the HTC Evo Shift 4G, a handset spotted into the wild a few times before, and which has just emerged in a sale ad at RadioShack.

The new appearance of this device seems set to confirm at least two facts about it, namely the fact that it would indeed sport the name of HTC Evo Shift 4G, as well as the fact that it would sport a price tag of $149.99 on contract.

Apparently, the mobile phone should be put on sale in the United States as soon as January 9th is here, offering its features to all mobile phone users in the country who are Sprint customers.

The new device should arrive on the market with Google's Android operating system on board, while featuring a side-sliding QWERTY keyboard, the same as the Samsung Epic 4G.

As stated above, the handset would sport a price tag of $149.99 if purchased with a new two-year contract agreement with the wireless carrier Sprint, while expected to retail for $449.99 free of contract.

In the end, it seems that Verizon might not be the only wireless services provider in the United States to launch new Android-based handsets that sport 4G connectivity options as well in early 2011.

However, the new mobile phone would include lower specs than the already available 4G devices at Sprint, with a 3.7-inch touchscreen included into the mix, and a 800 MHz second-gen Snapdragon processor packed beneath it.

Basically, the new device would be a WiMAX-enabled version of HTC Desire Z, which arrived on the United States market a few months ago as the T-Mobile G2, though without the unique z-hinge packed with that phone.

Provided that rumors pan out, we should learn more on the new Android-based device as soon as next week, during the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show that should kick off in Las Vegas on January 6th. (via Android Central)
