The next Android-based mobile phone that would sport WiMAX connectivity on the airwaves of wireless carrier Sprint has just made a live appearance into the wild, after being listed at Walmart, which confirmed most of the handset's specifications.

The mobile phone has been spotted around the web before, but this is the first time when high quality photos with it emerge, and when we can say without a doubt that its specifications are confirmed.

The successor of HTC EVO 4G should be launched on Sprint's airwaves with a smaller touchscreen display, complemented by a sliding QWERTY keyboard.

However, the same as the older device, the new HTC EVO Shift 4G should put together Google's Android operating system and support for the wireless carrier's WiMAX network.

The handset would come as a version of Desire Z, the HTC Android phone that was launched back in September around the world, though with some improvements from that device.

Powered by the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, the handset should sport a 3.7-inch touchscreen display that can deliver an 800 x 480-pixel resolution.

Moreover, it would be launched with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with dual-LED flash, digital zoon, and video capture support, as well as with a nice range of other multimedia capabilities.

The phone comes with a MicroSDHC memory card slot with support for up to 32 GB of additional storage space, and with a battery that can offer up to 312 minutes of talk time, or up to 146 hours of standby per charge.

The upcoming - though yet unannounced - HTC EVO Shift 4G measures 4.63 x 2.3 x .47 in and weighs in at 4.6 oz. According to some of the latest reports around the Internet, the upcoming mobile phone should go official as soon as this week.

Until more on this is unveiled, you might want to have a look at the live photos with the device that emerged over at Engadget.
