On pre-order status

HTC EVO 4G, the first mobile phone powered by Google's Android operating system to boast WiMAX connectivity, is rumored to become available for pre-order as soon as this month. According to the latest news around the Internet, the handset should arrive at RadioShack this month, being put on a pre-order status, while the actual launch should take place on June 6 or June 13.

When announcing the device officially, Sprint did say that it would go on sale during summer, yet it didn't provide specific info on the release date. While rumors on the matter previously emerged too, the newly suggested launch date might actually pan out, as it is sustained by a shot of RadioShack’s internal employee information system, brought to the web by phandroid.

According to the news site, Sprint already started choosing store advocates for the device, and, as this usually happens one month before each new release, it suggests that the HTC EVO 4G might indeed land at the beginning of June. Moreover, one forum user (AndroidForums.com), who claims to be a Sprint employee, also stated recently that the EVO was set to arrive at advocates on May 17, and that it should go on sale on June 6.

For the time being, nothing is certain yet, and, as it always happens with this kind of rumors, there are great chances that they won't pan out in the end. We'll take the news with a grain of salt for the time being, though the rumored launch window, June 6-June 13, seems to be in line with previous reports on the handset's release day.

In the meantime, we should take a look at a new video promo that emerged into the wild with the HTC EVO 4G. The clip can be seen embedded below, though you should take note that the handset looks rather short and fat here, although reality is said to be different. The EVO 4G should prove much more desirable when launched on the market, that's for sure.
