The first mobile phone to put together both Google's Android operating system and WiMAX connectivity options in a single device, the HTC EVO 4G, is now available for pre-order in the United States. Sprint, the carrier that will have the phone on its airwaves, announced the upcoming June 4 launch of the handset, and its retail partners already kicked off the pre-order period. Those interested in benefiting from the capabilities of a device that boasts both 3G and 4G connectivity options on board can head over to Best Buy or Radio Shack to reserve a unit in advance.

“Get ready for a rich, mobile Internet experience at Sprint 4G speeds. The feature-packed HTC EVO 4G gives you the power to quickly download music, photos, files or videos in seconds. Stream video or create your own content and upload your creations to your favorite social network. The HTC EVO 4G also lets you create your own hotspot and share the power of the 4G network with up to 8 Wi-Fi enabled devices. You'll also get the best that the powerful Android operating system has to offer, including access to thousands of cool apps,” Best Buy says about the device.

Unfortunately, it seems that the mobile phone cannot be pre-ordered online, and that those who would like to purchase it will have to hit the streets and find a near Best Buy or Radio Shack store to reserve a unit (the pre-order offer for HTC EVO 4G will last only until May 31 at Radio Shack). For what it's worth, those who are looking for a device that can offer great connectivity options, fast speeds, and all the features of an Android-based smartphone won't find it difficult to locate a Sprint partner near to place their orders.

The specifications list of the new device includes a large, vibrant, 4.3-inch touchscreen display with pinch-to-zoom, a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, an 8-megapixel photo snapper with dual LED flash, complemented by a 1.3MP front-facing camera, an HDMI port, Wi-Fi capabilities (with hotspot functionality, providing connectivity to up to eight additional devices), Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, 1GB ROM, 512MB RAM, a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space (an 8GB card included in the package), and a 1500mAh Lithium (Li-Ion) battery. The phone can deliver fast access to social-networking sites, as well as a nice range of entertainment options.
