The recently released HTC EVO 4G has just become the second most innovative product of the ongoing year in Laptop Magazine's “25 Most Innovative Products 2010” list. The handset, powered by Google's Android operating system, is now available for purchase in the United States as the first smartphone to pack 3G/4G connectivity, and includes a great deal of high-end specs and features that make it one of the nicest mobile phones available on the market at the moment.

In case there are some who are not yet familiar with what the HTC EVO 4G comes to the market with, we should note that it is powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, that it boasts a large 4.3-inch touchscreen display, or the fact that it packs an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with 720p HD video recording capabilities attached to it. A nice range of connectivity options are also available with the smartphone, making web browsing on it one of the nicest activities one can enjoy.

Here's what Laptop Magazine has to say about the phone that offers “download speeds between 3 and 6 Mbps on the Sprint network. What can be done with that speed is where the HTC EVO 4G really shines. A new YouTube HQ app, for example, can automatically sense when 4G speeds are available (in 27 markets and counting) to deliver a higher-quality stream to the 4.3-inch display. This handset also doubles as a mobile hotspot, allowing you to share that 4G connection with up to eight Wi-Fi devices. The Evo 4G is just as good at creating content thanks to its 8-megapixel camera, which records 720p HD video. You can even stream the scene around you live using the bundled Qik app.”

The HTC EVO 4G has been made available for purchase on Sprint's airwaves only a week ago, and the first day sales broke all previous records on the carrier's airwaves. Some estimate that Sprint managed to push out a number of around 150,000 units, which is quite impressive, considering that 4G connectivity is not available all around the country for the time being.

We should also note that Microsoft's new Windows Phone 7 operating system came in on the fourth position on that list. The platform is set for a market release sometime in the fourth quarter of the ongoing year, and marks a great shift in the company's approach towards the mobile phone space. It packs support for Xbox Live games, access to the Zune services, Live Tiles for seeing updated information from social networking sites, and other features more.
