14 DAY TRIAL // Taiwanese handset manufacturer HTC has already confirmed plans to upgrade its high-end smartphones to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but the company said that more details on the exact release dates would be revealed in due time.
It appears that the folks over at HTCInside have learned that HTC Turkey posted a table on its Facebook page that contains more in-depth information regarding the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade.
Even though the Turkish branch of HTC pulled the table, the guys over at HTCInside grabbed a screenshot of the table, which lists 9 smartphones as being ICS-upgradable.
To recap, the handset maker announced back in November 2011 that Android 4.0 would be deployed in early 2012 to the following smartphones: HTC Vivid, HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation XL and HTC Sensation XE, HTC Rezound, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G and HTC Amaze 4G.
In addition, Sprint also confirmed plans to roll out the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade to the HTC EVO 3D and HTC EVO Design 4G in early 2012.
However, according to the table, HTC EVO 3D should have been upgraded to Android 4.0 since December 2011.
On a more positive note, HTC added another smartphone to its lineup of devices that will receive the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade, namely the HTC Thunderbolt.
The HTC Thunderbolt is expected to receive its Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade sometime in Q1 2012, but no other details are offered for the moment.
Although HTC EVO 3D missed its deadline for the Android 4.0 upgrade, HTC Turkey claims that no less than seven smartphone are scheduled for an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade in January: HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation XE, HTC Sensation XL, HTC Amaze 4G, HTC Rezound, HTC EVO Design 4G and HTC Vivid.
More HTC devices are listed, but they are tagged as “unconfirmed” for the Android 4.0 upgrade: HTC Flyer, HTC Rhyme, HTC Incredible S, HTC Wildfire S, HTC Desire HD, HTC Desire, HTC Salsa, HTC ChaCha and HTC Desire Z.
