Taiwan-based mobile phone maker HTC was rumored not too long ago to plan launching additional color versions for the high-end HTC Desire on the market, and now one of them has been confirmed, it seems. We're talking here about the Black Edition of the Android 2.1-based handset from HTC, which is reportedly on its way to Orange UK.

According to a recent tweet from Conor Maples, Orange UK's PR manager, the carrier will bring this color version of Desire to its users, “Yes we will be ranging the HTC Desire from early April...and an exclusive Black Edition from end of April too...tempted?” We already knew that Orange would include the Desire in its offering, but it seems that its customers will enjoy an exclusive offering in the end.

We should mention that this is not the only device that will come in an exclusive color version to the wireless carrier, as the company will also include the white Sony Ericsson X10 in its offering next month. All in all, Orange UK users will soon have the possibility to taste Android on some highly-appealing devices, that's for sure.

The HTC Desire is set to become available on other wireless operators in the country too, including T-Mobile and Vodafone. However, they will only carry the common, brown version of the device, it seems, the one that will become available in early April at Orange too. Aside from the color, all the features and capabilities of the device will be there, and the experience offered to users will be similar.

In case there are some who are not yet familiar with the specs of Desire, we should mention a 3.7-inch AMOLED WVGA (800 x 480 pixel) touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel photo snapper, Wi-Fi (802.11b / g), Bluetooth 2.0, microUSB port, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, coupled with 512MB of ROM and 576MB of RAM, as well as a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space, and others more.
