The high-end Android-based HTC Desire smartphone has just received a new software update, meant to enhance the experience it delivers to its users.

The Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation announced the availability of this software update via its support website.

The new firmware update comes to HTC Desire units out there only with some minor fixes included into the mix, it seems.

Here's what HTC notes on the matter on the said support page:

Update Information: 1.Android OS update patch 2.Enhanced multi inbox Gmail support 3.Improved Russia keyboard layout

As soon as the new solution has been installed on the Android-based mobile phone, the Software number on HTC Desire should be 2.10.405.2, the handset vendor announced.

“After installing the update, you can confirm a successful update by confirming the Software number (From the Home Screen go to MENU> Settings> About Phone> Software Information> Software number). The new Software number will be 2.10.405.2,” HTC notes.

HTC Desire units out there should receive the new solution over the air, and it seems that HTC did not make it available for download over the Internet too.

“You can now download the latest software update for new features and improved performance. It won’t delete any of your content and we’d recommend using a Wi-Fi connection as this is a large update. If not, standard data connection charges may apply. Any questions? Contact us via www.htc.com,” the leading mobile phone maker announced.

Even if it is only a minor update, HTC Desire owners out there should still perform a back up of their devices prior to installing it, just as to make sure that no important files or personal information gets lost in the process.

The new firmware update is being delivered shortly after another HTC device got updated, the Wildfire.
