Due to high demand

HTC Desire, the latest high-end mobile phone Taiwan-based handset vendor HTC Corporation launched on the European market, is registering ever growing demand, which is expected to result in more delays in having it available for users. Two wireless carriers in the UK were already reported to meet difficulties keeping at pace with demand, namely T-Mobile and Vodafone, with a third expected to have problems in stocking the phone, namely Orange.

HTC Desire fans: high demand is equalling delays in getting stock across all our channels. Working to fix this as a priority. BIG apologies,” is what Conor Maples, PR manager for Orange UK, recently stated on Twitter. While the handset isn't available on the carrier's website as of yet, Maples states that it will be put on sale pretty soon, “I'd expect that the website will show stock over the weekend/ early next week.”

A high-end device, the HTC Desire comes to the market as the twin brother of Nexus One by HTC. However, while the latter is sold exclusively via Google's web store and offers a Google experience, the former is being marketed via carriers and resellers, and features HTC's touch over the Android experience, in the form of HTC Sense. This solution provides an enhanced social experience and includes the Friend Stream application for keeping users connected with social networking sites. Other than that, both devices are almost similar when it comes to their hardware specifications.

Orange UK is set to bring a Black Edition of the HTC Desire to the country too, one expected to arrive at the end of this month, and which should be available exclusively via the carrier. It remains to be seen what other changes the Black model would sport, if any, especially since some of those who snagged the Desire from Orange complain about blocked Google Talk and a wide range of pre-loaded Orange apps, eurodroid reports.
