Following news on the upcoming availability of Samsung high-end Galaxy S II smartphone on the market in Australia, info on the possible arrival of two new appealing devices from HTC on the local market also emerged.

Apparently, the company's HTC Desire S and Wildfire S smartphones are set to become official at Telstra before the end of May.

The wireless carrier is expected to make the announcement during a press event set for May 25th in Sydney, and it already sent out invites for it, PCWorld reports.

The new smartphones are successors of last year's popular HTC Desire and Wildfire, and are expected to hit the shelves at Telstra sometime in June, but no specific info on their actual release date emerged for the time being.

Both the HTC Desire S and the Wildfire S were unveiled to the world in February this year, during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The HTC Desire S smartphone is already available for purchase on the market in Australia, and was already rumored to be on its way to Telstra, but no official confirmation on this emerged until now.

The Desire S arrives on shelves with a 3.7-inch touchscreen display, complemented by a powerful 1GHz Qualcomm application processor, and 768MB of RAM.

On the back, the handset would sport a 5-megapixel photo snapper, with LED flash and video recording capabilities, along with a 1.3-MP camera on the front, for video calling.

The mobile phone is powered by Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, and offer support for a great deal of mobile services from Google, as well as for applications available for download via the Android Market.

The HTC Wildfire S comes with a 3.2-inch screen, a 600MHz application processor, 512MB of RAM, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, a 5-megapixel photo snapper, and the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system on board.
