Although U.S. Cellular has already unveiled plans to release no less than seven Android smartphones by the end of the year, the carrier avoided revealing any details regarding the models they will bring to its customers.

However, the rumors have already emerged and leaked documents point to two possible Android releases in the next couple of weeks.

According to the guys over at Phandroid, the HTC Desire S and the HTC Wildfire S are next on the list of U.S. Cellular Android family.

Both devices show up on the carrier's inventory list, but there's no word yet on whether or not these next in line are to be launched on the market.

HTC Desire S also known as Desire II is the sequel of the original HTC Desire smartphone, which was among the most popular Android smartphones launched by the Taiwanese handset manufacturer.

Unlike the original model, the HTC Desire S is made from a single block of aluminum, which gives it a solid and natural feel.

The phone is equipped with a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon processor and an Adreno 205 GPU (graphical processing unit).

Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform is another improvement over the popular Desire, as well as the presence of a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera.

Additionally, the HTC Desire S packs 1.1 GB ROM, and features HSDPA (14.4 Mbps) and HSUPA (5.76 Mbps) support.

The Wildfire S is an entry-level Android device when it comes to hardware, but wins on the software side.

Although the phone is powered by a low-performance 600 MHz processor the Wildfire S comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread on board, complemented by HTC Sense UI.

It has a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen with 262K colors support, 320 x 480 pixels resolution, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate and proximity sensor for auto turn-off.

Furthermore, the phone packs 512 MB ROM, 512 MB RAM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Stay tuned for more updates on the subject.
