T-Mobile raises the phone's price

HTC Desire, the high-end mobile phone Taiwanese company HTC Corporation unveiled officially during the Mobile World Congress, sees quite high demand in the UK. The handset is available for purchase via a series of carriers in the country, and at least two of them seem to have rather hard times keeping it in stock.

T-Mobile is one of the wireless operators in the country which has run out of stock with HTC Desire, as reported before, and Vodafone UK is now in the same situation. The carrier has seen “surprisingly high demand” for this device, and those who would like to acquire it are currently put on hold for about a week or so, at least this is what EuroDroid reports.

One user who tried purchasing the handset from Vodafone received the following response from the carrier (via Vodafone's forum): “Unfortunately we have suffered a surprisingly high demand for the HTC Desire, which means that it is unexpectedly out of stock. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. We hope to have further stock available within 7-10 working days and will contact you again once your order has been dispatched.”

The HTC Desire, Nexus One's brother, is one of the most appealing Android-based mobile phones on the market today, that's for sure. Not only does it come with a large display, but its speedy processor and hardware specs promise fast performance and an enhanced experience. Therefore, it was only natural for it to see strong demand, especially in the markets where Nexus One is still unavailable.

And since Desire appeals so much to users, T-Mobile UK reportedly decided to raise the price for this handset. As EuroDroid notes, the carrier increased the price for Desire on its £25 tariffs with about £60, at least this is what a comparison between the current price tags and those listed on March 22 shows. However, we should mention that the phone is still available for free on the £35 monthly plan from T-Mobile.
