14 DAY TRIAL // Taiwan-based mobile phone maker HTC Corporation announced a while ago plans to upgrade some of its existing Android-based handsets to the latest version of Google's operating system, namely Android 2.2 Froyo, and some more details on the matter emerged recently. It seems that at least three of the company's devices would taste Android 2.2 starting with the third quarter of the ongoing year, including the HTC Desire, Legend and Wildfire.
“We are working hard with our partners to update the HTC Sense experience on Froyo and distribute it to our customers as fast as possible. We expect to release updates for several of our 2010 models including Desire, Legend and Wildfire beginning in Q3,” HTC announced on the matter, according to a recent article on androidbloke. Hopefully, the software update won't be delayed, and users would be able to benefit from the goodies included in it as soon as possible.
Back in May, when Google announced officially the release of its new Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, the Taiwanese handset vendor announced that it would provide the software solution for the handsets it launched on the market during the ongoing year. Nexus One already started receiving the solution, and, with Desire, Legend and Wildfire set to get it beginning with the third quarter of the year, it only remains to be seen when Verizon Wireless' DROID Incredible would receive it, or whether forthcoming device from HTC would run under it right from the beginning.
As soon as Android 2.2 would arrive on HTC Desire, Legend and Wildfire, users would be able to enjoy an enhanced experience from these devices. The operating system has been packed with new features like Home screen tips widget, dedicated shortcuts for Phone, applications Launcher, and Browser, support for Exchange Calendars, portable Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities, support for multiple languages to the keyboard, important performance boosts, and other enhancements more. All in all, the new Android 2.2 would make existing mobile phones feel as new devices once again.
