HTC Desire, the high-end mobile phone HTC Corporation unveiled officially during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, is set to become available for 3UK customers on April 20. The wireless carrier will have the device put on sale for its users for free upon the signing of a 24-month contract agreement on a £35 per month plan (with unlimited Internet, texts and 750 anytime any network minutes).

Sylvia Chind, head of Branded Devices commented, “We’ve experienced unprecedented levels of enthusiasm for the HTC Desire from customer interaction on our blog and through our sales channels. This feedback has been a key driver in our decision making around the Desire so we've decided to launch a generic, non-3 branded version of the phone early for those customers who just can’t wait. We’re unbelievably excited to have this phone on our network, and we've been working really hard alongside HTC to launch as early as we possibly can.”

The HTC Desire is set to arrive at 3UK with a wide range of features, including great social networking and Internet applications. Those users willing to purchase the handset will enjoy the option of downloading 3’s unique products and services, such as Skype, Windows Live Messenger or the Spotify premium app, while also being able to access a wide range of other software solutions via the Android Market. While available for free on a £35 per month plan from 3UK, the HTC Desire should be included in the carrier's Pay As You Go lineup too, sporting a price tag of £349.

Additionally, the same as other phones on 3UK's offering, the Desire will include free tweeting messages and pictures. The carrier offers free access to the social networking site, regardless whether customers head over to Twitter’s mobile site or use integrated apps on devices like HTC Hero, the INQ Mini 3G and Chat 3G, or the Sony Ericsson T715. The offer is available for Pay As You Go subscribers too, as well as for those with Internet add-ons, the wireless carrier concludes.
