Mobile phone carrier Cellular South is reportedly gearing up for the launch of some highly appealing new devices in the not too far future, including both Android and Windows Phone-based smartphones, and some info on possible forthcoming additions to the carrier's lineup emerged.

Among these handsets, we can count the Android-based HTC Desire II and the Wildfire S, the former being one and the same Desire S that was launched in February during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The Desire S is the direct successor of last year's popular HTC Desire, runs under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and sports similar looks with the original.

However, it does come with enhanced hardware specifications, including a newer 1GHz application processor, more internal memory and RAM, improved connectivity capabilities, and better multimedia capabilities.

Following the same pattern, the HTC Wildfire S comes with a feature that would easily make it a more appealing choice over its predecessor. The handset is a cheaper version of the Desire S.

A leaked screenshot of what would reportedly represent the carrier's internal systems shows these two devices, next to another phone that might land at Cellular South soon, the HTC 7 Pro.

Unlike the first two handsets, the third one runs under Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 operating system. It was unveiled in October last year, and landed on the market in the United States in March, on Sprint's network.

The phone is available for purchase in the United States under the name of HTC Arrive. The Windows Phone 7 QWERTY slider is an appealing device, and should attract many users on its side, that's for sure.

For the time being, however, the arrival of these mobile phones at Cellular South is only a rumor, though more info on the matter might emerge in the near future, so stay tuned for more updates on this.
