We already knew that the HTC Desire HD is on its way to Australia via Vodafone, but little was known on the exact day when the handset will be put on sale at the wireless carrier. That was until today, when Vodafone announced officially that it would start selling the phone come Friday. The carrier's customers will be able to purchase the new Android-based smartphone both from the company's website, as well as from its stores.

“The HTC DESIRE HD will be in stores and available for purchase on Friday 5th November,” Vodafone Australia announced on Twitter (via Android Australia).

As for price tag, the handset will be available for $0 upfront on the carrier's $69 cap (which is actually priced at $59 per month), with a minimum cost over 24 months of $ 1416.

The HTC Desire HD comes to shelves with a 4.3-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a 480 x 800 pixels resolution, while hiding a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor beneath that display.

With 1.5GB of internal memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, the handset can offer enough space for carrying around photos, music, videos and more.

At the same time, we should mention that the handset sports Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth and micro USB connectivity options, complemented by 3.5mm headphone jack, FM Radio, and built in GPS receiver.

The specifications list of the new device also includes an 8-megapixels photo snapper with LED flash, auto focus, and HD video recording.

The HTC Desire HD runs under Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system, and sports enhanced support for various services powered by Google, including Google Search, Maps, Gmail, or YouTube.

At the same time, the mobile phone supports various applications that can be downloaded and installed from the Android Market.

As previously reported, the Android-based HTC Desire HD was already made available for pre-order at Vodafone and can be seen on the carrier's website here.
