HTC Desire HD Getting Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread Update Now

It appears that there’s a new Android 2.3 Gingerbread update available for the HTC Desire HD. The update is said to be delivered OTA (over the air) across Europe, but there’s no telling when exactly it will reach all countries.

According to the folks over at Eurodroid, there’s also an HTC Sense 3.0 UI update included, which makes things even more interesting for Desire HD owners.

There have been reports from HTC Desire HD users in the Netherlands, Serbia, Italy and the UK. Although most of these reports come from owners of unbranded HTC Desire HD units, it appears that Vodafone UK is rolling out the update as well.

On a side note, it appears that Turkey is scheduled to receive the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update and HTC Sense 3.0 UI for the Desire HD on December 15.

Update worked fine, but I seem to have lost my car panel/ navigation. Not sure if that's meant to happen, and if it was, has it been removed from my phone or is it just taking up space?

Comment #3.1 by: Nenad on 12 Dec 2011, 19:41 GMT

I lost Car Panel as well and am quite * I must say, since I had paid maps in there .. Now I am not sure how to get that navigation back.
I do hope this gets solved soon. I will wait it out a few days to see if the complaints start coming in.

Comment #3.2 by: Tj on 26 Dec 2011, 11:47 GMT

Also lost car panel and have tried everything to get it back with no joy. This was the first thread that I have come across where this issue is mentioned. Think I will raise this with HTC and see if I get a response.

Comment #3.3 by: CS on 27 Dec 2011, 18:33 GMT

I couldnt find the car panel after the update. It has been integrated with the locations app. My paid for maps etc were still there.

Arrived in UK December 24! Interface appears smooth and slightly improved. Had a few scary moments trying to log into my YouTube / Google account and not being able to read the Captcha words. Still trying to discover new features!

Just uploaded the new 2.3.5, on the front good, BUT I am unable to answer any incoming calls, keeps on "forcing close". Obviously this is a major problem, we have a 4 day old baby and have many people trying to call me but I can't answer! Meens I have to call them back, thereby using all of my minutes!

Anyone else have this??

Comment #8.1 by: Bill on 01 Jan 2012, 20:01 GMT

I have the same problem :(
I can't answer or reject any incoming calls. its frustrating coz the UI looks very nice but this is a major issue. One time I rejected an incoming call but the phone became unresponsive and kept ringing for couple of minutes and I stopped it by removing the battery. I tried to recover the phone but it stopped and didn't work!!!
Any solution???? Coz my balance is running so quickly that I have to call back all the people...

Comment #8.2 by: andy on 08 Jan 2012, 23:37 GMT

i am also getting the same problem, did u guys found any solution ?

Comment #8.3 by: Howser17 on 16 Jan 2012, 22:42 GMT

I thought i had solved this but the issue has returned!! One way was to go into you cantacts and unlink them from your google account. I then tried uninstalling facebook, followed by reinstalling it and everything was perfect. Until now that is, the problem has returned......even when I unlink from google. Tried to uninstal facebook but for some reason I am unable to??

Anyone else have any joy???

Comment #8.4 by: stacey on 27 Jan 2012, 08:29 GMT

Since update to 2.3.5 I have both of the problems mentioned here with incoming calls, and the phone continuing to ring after a call if rejected, although these are intermittent problems and don't always happen with the same contacts each time. i also have an intermittent problem with my alarms. All of these have made this great handset unreliable and almost unusable. Need to roll back. Shame. Anyone got a fix yet?

Comment #9 by: Andy on 08 Jan 2012, 23:35 UTC reply to this comment

i also updated to Android 2.3.5 on my HTC Desire HD, but since then i cant pick incoming calls, s/w just crashes most of the time I try to pick the call. Network just goes of after that and i have to restart the system to get going. There seems to be lot of animation and GUI changes but all these will be good if i can pick my calls properly. i hope to get rid of the problem soon.
