Last month during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Taiwan-based mobile phone maker HTC Corporation unveiled two new handsets powered by Google's Android operating system, the HTC Desire and Legend, and now the former has emerged into the wild all dressed up in Black. Moreover, the new color scheme spotted with Desire comes shortly after the device made an appearance in Silver, showing the HTC might launch more than one variant of the device on the market.

Interestingly enough, the Black HTC Desire, which was spotted as available for pre-order on Amazon France, seems to be a little different from the handset we've seen back in February at MWC. The phone includes the same hardware specifications as the original model, but shows an optical trackpad which is slightly different from the previous model, as ubergizmo notes. However, the trackpad should boast the same functionality as the one on the original model, even if it looks different.

As for the Silver version of HTC Desire, we should say that it was spotted last week and that it emerged both in a photo and in a video. This variant of Desire is also available for pre-order in Netherlands, and is priced at €449 ($620), expected to start shipping as soon as April 9. It can be examined in a video here. The Black version that can be seen on Amazon France is priced at €502.94 ($680). Although different on the outside, the two flavors of Desire are similar on the inside, it seems.

The specifications list of HTC Desire, which is the brother of Nexus One, includes a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, a 3.7 AMOLED touchscreen display that boasts an 800 x 480 pixel resolution, a 5-megapixel photo snapper, 3G connectivity, Wi-Fi capabilities, built-in GPS receiver, Bluetooth 2.1, FM radio, 3.5mm headphone jack, microSD / microSDHC memory card slot for additional storage space, a 1400mAh battery inside, and the Google Android 2.1 operating system.
