Today, Virgin Mobile has added a new smartphone to its pre-paid lineup, none other than the HTC Desire 601, though the carrier launched it under the name of HTC Desire.

The phone is available for purchase at the operator with a price tag of $279.99 (€207) attached to it, and can be enjoyed on the company’s no-contract Beyond Talk plans starting at $35 (€26) a month with unlimited data & messaging.

HTC Desire arrived at Virgin Mobile with support for the carrier’s 4G LTE service, while also packing a nice range of exclusive features, such as HTC BoomSound, HTC BlinkFeed, HTC Zoe, Video Highlights, and more.

“HTC Desire is a sleek smartphone designed to deliver an unforgettable experience,” said Mark Lederman, director of Marketing, Virgin Mobile USA.

“This high-tech LTE device is a great addition to our lineup, and with the value, choice and flexibility of no-contract wireless plans, breaking free from a long-term contract is a simple and money-saving decision.”

HTC Desire sports a 1.4 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor inside, along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory. A microSD memory card slot enables users to add up to 64GB of additional storage space to it.

The phone also packs a 4.5-inch qHD touchscreen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2, and sports a 5-megapixel camera on the back, with support for HD video recording.

The specs list of this smartphone also includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, GPS receiver, and the usual set of sensors. HTC desire runs under Google’s Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean platform, with HTC Sense loaded on top.

“We’re proud to introduce a premium quality smartphone at an accessible price that features HTC’s distinctive innovations in audio, imaging and performance,” Marty McGinley, vice president of Sales, HTC America, said.
