On other Canadian carriers too

HTC Desire is, undoubtedly, one of the hottest Android-based mobile phones that landed on the market during the ongoing year. Already available for purchase in a variety of markets around the world, the HTC Desire is getting closer and closer to being released on the North American market too, and chances are that it would make an appearance on the airwaves of AT&T in the US.

We already knew that the Desire is on its way to the United States, but the latest reports show that it might actually enjoy expanded availability. A while ago, wireless carrier US Cellular announced officially plans to bring the Desire to the US market, but it seems that it might not be the only operator to do so.

The info on Desire being headed to AT&T comes from FCC, which has just approved a new HTC device with model code PB99220. The said handset sports support for WCDMA on bands I, II, and V, something that suggests it might be released on AT&T's network in the US, as well as on the airwaves of Bell, Rogers, and TELUS in Canada.

The model code for this HTC phone that passed through FCC resembles a lot the code the original HTC Desire had, namely PB99200. According to Engadget, the recycling of codes through changing the second-to-last digit is a usual thing for HTC. While there is no further proof of Desire being on its way to AT&T, some additional reports on it being en route to Canadian operator TELUS did emerge.

According to MobileSyrup, the wireless carrier is getting ready to start training its employees on the upcoming HTC Desire, and chances are that it would release the high-end Android-based mobile phone before the end of July. Of course, nothing is certain until an official announcement is made, but we'll keep our fingers crossed for this to happen as soon as possible.
