One of the cheapest ICS-based smartphone, the HTC Desire C has just been launched in the UK. Customers can now purchase the handset for 150 GBP (230 USD or 185 EUR) on PAYG (pay as you go) via Three UK.

Customers who are willing to commit to a long term monthly plan can also grab the Desire C for free from £13 a month on the Ultimate Internet 100 plan. According to Three, the smartphone is now available both online and in all its brick and mortar stores.

Affordability aside, HTC Desire C comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box, integrated with HTC Sense UI v4.0.

Furthermore, the smartphone sports a decent 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 320 x 480 pixels resolution and 16 million colors.

There's also a 5-megapixel rear photo snapper with autofocus and video recording, but the device lack as secondary front facing camera for video calls.

Hardware-wise, HTC Desire C is far from being impressive. In fact it's a miracle that Ice Cream Sandwich works smoothly on such a device.

The Desire C is equipped with a low-performance 600 MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, which is complemented by 512MB of RAM.

On the inside, the phone packs 4GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

Moreover, HTC Desire C owners will also receive 25GB of free cloud storage via Dropbox for two years.

Another strong point of the phone is the built-in Beats Audio technology, which provides users the best, most authentic music quality straight out of the box. Check it out here.

The HTC Desire C is a great all-rounder with a really powerful battery life, meaning that people can stream videos and music to their heart’s content over Three’s fast network,” said Sylvia Chind, head of handsets at Three.
