One of the most popular devices currently available on the UK market with Google's Android operating system on board is the HTC Desire, set to become even more appealing than before, as Orange UK is expected to release a black flavor of the phone on its airwaves. No exact details on when that might happen were unveiled, yet rumor has it that the device might arrive on shelves as soon as this week.

The wireless carrier already announced that it would bring the Black variant of HTC Desire to the market, and even listed the phone on its website in the coming soon section, so there's no doubt that the launch will take place. However, since no official info on the launch date or on the price tag of the device were delivered, the release window remains in the rumor side for the time being. According to a recent post on androidcommunity, the Black Desire should hit Orange's warehouse at the beginning of the week, while landing on shelves sometime between “middle to late” this week.

“Super fast and super sexy, you’ll want to get your hands on the powerful HTC Desire. Don’t be fooled by its slim appearance, it hides a processor that delivers fast web browsing and amazing multimedia. The 3.7 inch touch screen gives brilliant, sharp images, especially those taken on the 5-megapixel camera. Personalize your phone with a multitude of HTC Sense widgets making it all about you,” Orange notes on its website.

When looking closely at the specifications list of Desire, one would easily understand why the Taiwanese mobile phone maker chose to name it this way. The 3.7-inch AMOLED display is complemented by a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, along with a 5-megapixel photo snapper, support for HSDPA 7.2Mbps, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

The specifications list of the device also includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, 3.5 mm audio jack, FM radio, MP3 player, built-in GPS receiver, HTML browser, accelerometer, and others more. The HTC Desire measures 119 x 11.9 x 60 mm, weighs in at 135g, and packs a battery capable of delivering up to 6.5 hours of talk time or up to 14 days of standby time. The phone can be seen on Orange's website here.
