Wireless carrier Vodafone UK seems to be in an Android spree lately, as it has just made yet another mobile phone running under Google's operating system available for pre-order, the HTC Desire. The operator lists the new mobile phone on its website as set to begin shipping on April 13, and those interested in the device can purchase it for free on a pay monthly plan starting at £30 per month.

The HTC Desire, as most of you might already know, comes to the market with the Android 2.1 operating system on board and includes about the same specifications as the Nexus One by HTC, the handset sold exclusively via Google's web store. However, the new phone also includes HTC's Sense experience on top of Android 2.1 and has been already announced to arrive at various carriers around the world.

“If a phone's not really yours till you've got it how you like it, the HTC Desire is for you. It's got Android inside, giving you the power to customise up to seven home screens. And whatever you're doing on your phone - from apps to the web - you'll be wowed by the Desire's speed. Your contacts are simpler too. Link the people in your address book to their Facebook, Twitter and email accounts. Then sit back and let their updates, mails, texts and more come to you - all in one place,” Vodafone UK notes on its website.

The mobile phone includes a 3.7-inch touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus flash and video recording capabilities, 512MB of internal memory coupled with a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB, HSDPA connectivity options, built-in GPS receiver, and a battery that can deliver up to 400 minutes of talk time or up to 340 hours of standby time. All of these and others more are packed inside a device that measures 119 x 60 x 11.9 mm and weighs in at 135g.

Those interested in ordering an HTC Desire in advance from Vodafone UK will find the handset available on the carrier's website here.
