Taiwan-based mobile phone maker HTC Corporation recently announced the launch of its high-end HTC Desire in Malaysia. The handset, one of the latest devices from the company to run under Google's Android operating system and to bring the HTC Sense experience along, is now on sale via Maxis, while expected to hit other retailers on June 24.

“Maxis is pleased to be first to offer the highly anticipated HTC Desire to our customers, to address their needs on a holistic level - ensuring unique access to the latest advancements in device technologies and interfaces in order to enjoy rich contents over best network speeds for mobile data and browsing,” Jean-Pascal van Overbeke, Maxis’ chief operating officer, commented on the launch.

HTC Desire sports a 3.7-inch AMOLED display that can deliver a sharp contrast and true colors. Moreover, the handset is powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor that offers it impressive performance levels, while the HTC Sense user experience is meant to offer increased ease when it comes to benefiting from the phone's capabilities.

“The device’s focus on intuitive exploration is very much a reflection of Maxis’ commitment to making it easy and natural to manage every aspect of your life, through technology and service solutions which meet the range of human desires. We are pleased to work together with HTC in enriching our bundled service offerings and adding a new dimension of enjoyment and interpersonal connection to our customers’ lives,” Maxis’ COO continued.

The HTC Sense solution has been designed so as to put people in the center by making the handset work in a more natural way. It is based on three main principles, namely Make It Mine, Stay Close and Discover the Unexpected, and puts all of user's communication (including Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr) in a single flow of updates via Friend Stream. Additionally, it comes with a new seven-screen ‘Leap’ thumbnail for fast access to specific screens.

The HTC Desire is available from Maxis for a subsidized price of RM1499 with contract, and can be purchased from any of 28 Maxis Centres nationwide, as well as via selected Maxis Exclusive Partners. According to the handset vendor, the device is set to be put on sale via all authorized resellers on June 24, with a price tag of RM 2,199.00.
