HTC has several high-end and mid-range Android smartphones in the pipeline. Some of them have already been spotted at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory commission, while others have been leaked by different sources.

Today, the Taiwanese company announced that two new smartphones would soon be available for purchase in its native country. The Desire 820G+ and Desire 626G+ have been officially introduced in Taiwan where they will sell for $195 and $160, respectively.

According to a new report coming directly from Taiwan, both HTC Desire smartphones are equipped with similar hardware with two exceptions, display and front camera.

While HTC Desire 820G+ packs a large 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution, the Desire 626G+ sports a smaller 5-inch display that comes with the same HD (720p) resolution.

When it comes to hardware, both mid-range smartphones are equipped with a MediaTek MT6592 chipset that packs a 1.7GHz octa-core processor and 1GB of RAM.

In addition, the handsets feature 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD card slot.

Android 4.4 KitKat is a real letdown

Unfortunately, they will ship with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system right out of the box, along with HTC Sense UI 6.0 on top. They are powered by 2,600 mAh batteries and offer dual-SIM support.

Both HTC Desire smartphones are packed with 13-megapixel photo snappers that feature autofocus, LED flash and video recording.

However, the Desire 820G+ has an impressive 8-megapixel camera in the front for great selfies and video calls, while the Desire 626G+ comes with a smaller 5-megapixel secondary camera.

There's no word on whether or not these devices will be launched in other countries as well, but since they come with dual-SIM support, there's a high chance they will be introduced in emerging markets like India.
