The surprisingly successful HTC Desire 816 mid-range smartphone has finally appeared in the UK and customers can now pre-order one, but only in white.

According to Clove UK, HTC Desire 816 is now available for pre-order in white for £295 (€360 / $495) outright. Keep in mind that these are paid orders, which will be delivered when the smartphone becomes available.

Speaking of which, the Desire 816 is expected to arrive at Clove sometime in early May. A more exact release date is likely to be available closer to release.

It is also worth mentioning that the black version of Desire 816 can also be pre-ordered, but no payment will be taken due to the fact that an arrival date has yet to be determined.

Additionally, customers that prefer more vivid colors like orange and green, rather than the classic black and white, can now register their interest on the retailer’s online store.

“Clove are now taking paid orders for the WHITE version of the Desire 816 – you can place yours HERE for £295.00 (£245.83 ex VAT) – due early May.

The black version is currently still on pre-order (no payment taken) whilst we await an arrival date. You can also register your interest for the green & orange versions as we wait for more information on these,” says Clove in a blog post.

HTC Desire 816 is already available for purchase in China. The handset maker claims that it has received hundreds of thousands of pre-orders for the mid-range smartphone, which is probably one of the reasons it did not manage to bring it to Europe much sooner.

The smartphone will be delivered in the UK with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box and a powerful 1.6GHz quad-core Qualcomm MSM8928 Snapdragon 400 processor.

Moreover, the Desire 816 has been confirmed to pack an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit, 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory. The latter can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD memory card.

Another strong point of the mid-range handset is the 5.5-inch Super LCD2 capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.

On the back, HTC Desire 816 boasts an impressive 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording. There’s also a secondary, no less impressive, 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.

The Desire 816 is powered by a 2600 mAh non-removable battery that has yet to be rated by HTC, and offers LTE, HSPA+, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi connectivity options.
