We reported last week on the first HTC smartphone to pack an octa-core processor, the Desire 616, but there were no details on the handset’s price tag at that time.

According to Phonearena, several Chinese blog sites report that HTC Desire 616 won’t cost more than 1,300 yuan outright at launch, which is about $210 or €145.

As you may have already learned, HTC Desire 616 comes powered by MediaTek’s MT6592 chipset, which accommodates an octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz, along with 1GB of RAM.

In addition, the smartphone is said to come with 8GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB). The Desire 616 will ship with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, which is an odd choice considering the phone’s hardware specs.

On the back, the smartphone will boast an 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording. No word on the battery powering the Desire 616, but we know that it will come with BoomSound speakers.

HTC Desire 616 should arrive in China sometime this month and will be available for purchase in multiple color options, including black, blue, yellow, red and white.
