HTC is about to launch another mid-range Android smartphone in the United States, the Desire 612. This is the first time we hear about this device, which hasn’t been officially unveiled by the Taiwanese company yet.

However, the device was recently spotted on Verizon’s equipment guide support site, along with the user manual which lists some of the smartphone’s specs.

The good news is more details on the phone’s hardware and software configuration leaked via TKTechNews, which point to a possible re-launch of the Desire 610 in the United States.

For those unfamiliar with the HTC Desire 610, this mid-range smartphone was launched in the US through AT&T earlier this year, but the Taiwanese handset maker plans to make it available to other carriers as well.

Apparently, the HTC Desire 612 is in fact Verizon’s version of the Desire 610, so we expect the smartphone to pack similar features, but different bloatware.

The folks that leaked most of the Desire 612’s specs also provided a press render of the smartphone where we can see Verizon’s brand, along with the 4G LTE logo.

According to them, HTC Desire 612 should make it to the US through Verizon Wireless on October 9 and it should be priced at only $20 (€16) on two-year agreements. No word on the outright price of the smartphone yet, but we won’t have to wait too long for the information.

Moving on to specs, the Desire 612 does not stand out. The smartphone sports a 4.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports qHD (540 x 960 pixels) resolution, as well as 8GB of internal memory.

Of course, the actual amount of storage left for apps will be much less, but users will be able to further expand internal memory up to 32GB.

On the back, HTC Desire 612 is said to pack an 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while in the front there’s a secondary 1.3-megapixel camera for video calls and occasional selfies.

Last but not least, the smartphone is powered by a 2040 mAh battery, but it’s unclear whether it’s removable or not. We also know the Desire 612 will ship with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box and Sense UI 5.5.

Expect some Verizon-related bloatware to be packed on the smartphone as well, but there’s a high chance that you will be able to get rid of it easily by uninstalling the apps and services that you don’t use. Stay tuned for more updates on the HTC Desire 612 release in the United States.
