We reported over the weekend that HTC Desire 601 might get the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat upgrade sometime next year, but there was no confirmation from any HTC’s officials.

A release timeframe was not available either, but thanks to HTC USA’s Mohammed Versi, we can now report that the Desire 601 is on track to receive the highly anticipated Android 4.4.2 KitKat. In addition, the update will also contain the newest HTC Sense 5.

According to HTC’s official, Desire 601 in the United States should look for the update beginning late March 2014. This might seem a long time, but the Taiwanese handset maker may need it in order to bring the HTC Desire 601 to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean first.

There’s no confirmation yet, but from what Versi says, HTC will skip Android 4.3 for Desire 601, which will be upgraded directly to Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Stay tuned for additional details on this one.
