Today, Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has officially announced the upcoming availability of the HTC Desire 310, an entry-level smartphone that will land on shelves in Taiwan starting with April.

The new handset comes with a powerful quad-core processor inside, which should provide it with appealing performance capabilities, including seamless multi-tasking and smooth browsing.

Moreover, the phone sports great video recording capabilities, a sophisticated navy blue design, and popular features such as HTC BlinkFeed and Video Highlights.

The new addition to the HTC Desire family of devices brings some of the most popular capabilities previously available only as part of the HTC One family to the entry-level market.

“Everybody today wants a smartphone that can keep up with them, regardless of whether it is a flagship or entry-level model” says Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation.

“The latest addition to our renowned HTC Desire range combines super-fast processing and premium features at a lower price, offering users the best possible experience in this category.”

HTC Desire 310 was made official with a 1.3GHz quad-core processor packed inside, as well as with a 4.5-inch touchscreen display that can deliver only a FWVGA (854 x 480 pixels) resolution.

The smartphone also comes with 512MB of RAM, as well as with 4GB of internal memory. However, the device provides users with the possibility to add more storage space to it, courtesy of a microSD memory card slot.

On the back, the new mobile phone features a 5-megapixel camera, complemented by a VGA front camera for making video calls. HTC Desire 310 is powered by a 2000mAh battery.

HTC also included dual-SIM capabilities inside the new device, along with support for 3G networks and the usual Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS receiver. It also comes with a bunch of sensors.

While the hardware specs might not do the Desire 310 much good, though they are pretty decent for an entry-level, the software features that HTC has packed it with should change that.

The phone comes with the renowned HTC BlinkFeed home screen, which enables users to receive relevant, up-to-the-minute news and social updates (including Twitter, Facebook, and China’s Sina Weibo) straight on the home screen of their smartphones.

Offline Reading mode is also available on this device, so that users can easily view articles from their personal feed, coming from the world’s leading media companies. Users can easily add up to 120 articles from their lists and enjoy reading them later.

On top of that, there’s the Video Highlights feature, which can easily turn pictures and video clips into a professional-looking show reel. Simply select photos shot with the phone, put them into sequences you enjoy the most, choose tracks and effects to go along with them, and then easily share them on social networks.

The new HTC Desire 310 is set to become available for purchase in Taiwan starting with the next month, through wireless carriers in the country. HTC is expected to make it official in other markets out there as well, though it did not offer info on the matter as of now.
