Taiwan-based mobile phone maker HTC announced today that its high-end Windows Mobile-powered mobile phone HTC HD2 has been launched in Hong Kong. According to the company, the new device arrives on the Hong Kong market exclusively via CSL Limited. The HD2 is the first Windows phone from the company to include its proprietary HTC Sense solution, the company added.

Peter Chou, chief executive officer of HTC Corporation, commented: “The HD2 is the first Windows phone with HTC Sense, an HTC user experience focused on making the phone more simple and natural to use and by enabling people to personalize their mobile experience in their own unique way,” Aenil Premji, chief marketing officer of CSL, added: “We're extremely excited about being the exclusive operator to offer HD2, the first Windows phone with HTC Sense. We are always looking for devices to provide the solutions that assist our customers to create a simple life.”

The new navigation solution available on the HTC HD2 is meant to put people in the middle, making the use of a mobile phone more simple and natural, the handset vendor states. HTC Sense has been built on three fundamental principles, Make it Mine, Stay Close, and Discover the Unexpected, and is meant to offer new means of staying in touch with friends and family. According to HTC, the goal with Sense was to enhance “people’s lives through innovation, design and ease of use.”

The new handset comes to the market with a Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon processor inside, something that can provide a lot of raw power for various applications and tasks. Moreover, the Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system it comes packed with delivers access to a variety of applications and services, including the recently launched My Phone service for online backup or the Windows Marketplace for Mobile, where users will find a wide range of apps, games and content available for download. Synchronization with Microsoft Exchange and support for Microsoft Office files and PDF documents are just some of the features HTC HD2 comes to the market with.

Beware of HTC's large screen phones.
Any force applied to them, even taking off a screen protector, is enough to produce "newton rings" and the screen stops responding to touch.
Not much use for a touch screen phone.
HTC refuse to cover this by warranty and refuse to negotiate. expect to shell out up to $500 to repair it. With no guarantee that the next screen won't do the same thing.
Design or Materials fault but they won't cover it by warranty.
