Two Windows Mobile devices from Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation have been updated today, namely the HD2 and Touch2.

This is no major update, but only a minor fix, it seems, aimed at correcting any issues that might have appeared with the daylight saving time on these two smartphones.

“This update for HTC HD2 readjusts your clock to account for the hour gained during Daylight Savings,” the leading handset vendor notes on its support website.

All HTC HD2 and HTC Touch2 devices are targeted with the new Daylight Saving Time software update, except for the T-Mobile HTC HD2 devices, the company notes.

“This update is only applicable to HTC HD2 (Not applicable to T-Mobile HTC HD2),” one can read on the page dedicated to this update.

The software update can be installed via a desktop computer, case in which users would have to connect their devices via a USB cable.

Moreover, they would need to have Microsoft ActiveSync installed, in case the desktop PC runs under Windows XP, or Windows Mobile Device Center, provided that the computer is powered by Windows Vista.

Users would also have to connect and sync their devices with the PC via Microsoft ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center.

The software update was made available for download on HTC's support website here and here, for HD2 and Touch2, respectively.

“Copy the update, which is an .exe file, to your device. To install the update, tap the .exe file and follow the on-screen instructions,” the mobile phone maker notes.

Before proceeding with the update, users might consider performing a backup of all data on their devices, just to make sure that no important files are lost during the installation process.

Moreover, they should know that the changes made by this update would be lost in case a device hard reset is performed, which means that they would have to re-install the solution if that happens.
