HTC One, the latest flagship Android-based smartphone from HTC, went available for purchase in the United States yesterday through a variety of carriers and retailers, but won’t arrive in users’ hands unlocked just yet.

Although HTC made the device available for pre-order unlocked in early April, both in a 32GB flavor and as a 64GB Developer Edition variant, those who placed reservations for it will have to wait a bit longer to receive their units.

The smartphone was initially said to start shipping to users on April 19, but that day came and gone, HTC did not deliver to its promise.

However, the handset vendor did issue a statement on this, informing users that there has been only a slight delay in shipments, and that they should receive their units before the end of April, as Android Central notes in a recent article.

“We're excited that the new HTC One is now available through AT&T, Sprint T-Mobile and numerous national retail partners; however, we are experiencing unforeseen delays with shipping for the pre-ordered the 32GB SIM-unlocked and 64GB developer edition,” HTC reportedly said.

“We are working to fulfill orders as quickly as possible but the latest delivery for any customers will be before the end of April. We apologize to these customers for the delay. We know there is a lot of excitement for this phone and we can't wait to get this device into all of our customers' hands.”

The 32GB flavor of the smartphone is listed on HTC’s website as SIM unlocked, while the 64GB Developer Edition, also SIM free, is said to feature an unlocked bootloader too.

HTC One sports a 4.7-inch full HD screen, a 1.7GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, a 4MP UltraPixel photo snapper on the back, front camera for video calling, and the usual set of connectivity features and sensors, while running under Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
