HTC is one of the many Microsoft partners that launched Windows Phones in the last year or so. In fact, the HTC One M8 for Windows is the only flagship smartphone, other than Lumia, that is still available on the market.

Although we're not aware of how popular the HTC One M8 for Windows is in the United States and other countries where it got released, it's good to know that Microsoft has some competition in the high-end range.

However, it's unclear whether or not the Taiwanese company is willing to continue to launch Windows Phone handsets in the coming months.

Since Microsoft announced that it would launch Windows 10 for Phones sometime later this summer, we expect most companies to wait until then to release their new smartphones powered by the this version of the OS.

HTC One M9+ with Windows 10 could be a serious competitor for Lumia phones

Because HTC will probably want to launch another high-end smartphone, it would make sense to wait for Windows 10 for Phones and then release it.

It looks like this is how HTC officials think too, as Chia-Lin Chang, President of Global Sales and Chief Financial Officer at HTC, said during the One M9+'s launch event in India that his company was working with Microsoft towards the release of Windows 10, WindowsCentral reports.

When asked about the possibility of launching a Windows version of HTC One M9+, the company's official said, “We'll see how the new version of the Windows operating system shapes up and where it fits in the HTC lineup.”

While this doesn't confirm another Windows Phone flagship smartphone from HTC, it doesn't rule out the possibility either.

The good news is that HTC's official confirmed that more info on the matter would be announced in late Q2 or early Q3, so stay tuned for more on this one.
