A few days ago HTC published a photo of a white smartphone that we thought to be the company’s Windows Phone flagship handset, the 8X.

Given the fact that HTC 8X is only available in California Blue, Graphite Black, Flame Red and Limelight Yellow colors, the white-themed version would have been something new.

However, as WMPoweruser points out, the so-called “white 8X” turned out to be the Japanese HTC J Butterfly.

The information has been recently confirmed by HTC, which leaves no doubt on the identity of the white smartphone appearing in the photo.

The HTC J Butterfly is available in Japan, but the Taiwanese company launched a slightly different version in the United States which is known as HTC DROID DNA and is exclusive to major carrier Verizon Wireless.
