HTC India announced the upcoming availability of the Butterfly a few months ago, but the smartphone hit shelves only today.

There are several Indian retailers offering the smartphone, including Infibeam and Flipkart. Potential customers can buy the HTC Butterfly for around Rs 45,000 outright, which is about $825 or €645. Check it out here.

Keep in mind that HTC Butterfly was initially priced at Rs 46,000 ($845/€660), but the price drop isn’t too much of a deal.

The most expensive HTC smartphone available on the market, until HTC One arrives, the Butterfly is delivered with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.

However, HTC has confirmed that the Butterfly is on the short list of devices eligible for an Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean upgrade, though no additional details on availability have been provided yet.

Furthermore, the device comes with HTC Sense UI 4+ and packs Beats Audio sound enhancement technology.

It boasts a hyper-vibrant 5-inch Super LCD3 capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 2 coating.

On the back, HTC Butterfly sports an enhanced 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while on the front, there’s a secondary 2-megapixel camera for video calls.

Hardware-wise, the Butterfly is among the most powerful smartphones available on the market. The phone comes equipped with a 1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm APQ8064 Snapdragon processor, which is complemented by an Adreno 320 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

When it comes to connectivity, HTC Butterfly is an all-rounder. It offers HSPA+ and LTE, along with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC (Near Field Communication). Still, the latter is market dependent.

Last but not least, the smartphone is powered by a 2,020 mAh Li-Polymer battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.
