The HTC One M9+ is the first phone with a QHD display to come out this year, but it won’t be the only one we will see get unveiled by the Taiwanese device maker.

Late last month, we told you that the company is expected to be launching a third device from the Butterfly series which will take advantage of a QHD display.

We are talking about the Butterfly 3 which leaked online a while ago revealing some of its preliminary specs. Well, this week the phone has landed in CompuBench thus completing the picture for us, before the official announcement had a chance to happen.

According to the benchmark listing, the HTC Butterfly 3 should arrive with a 5.1-inch display with 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution and boast 576 ppi.

Previous rumors used to claim that the phone will have a 5.2-inch display instead, so we might be facing a small error here. Or maybe not.

HTC Butterfly 3 is shaping out to be pretty massive

So far, we haven't been sure whether the HTC Butterfly 3 will rely on a MediaTek processor or a Qualcomm one, but now we got our answer. It appears the octa-core Snapdragon 810 with Adreno 430 graphics will fill the entrails of the phone, in combination with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

The camera department seems to be the hot spot of this phone, and if we are to believe the current listing, the Butterfly 3 should boast a 20MP main camera (probably the same sensor that is found in the One M9) along with a pretty awesome 13MP frontal camera capable of shooting 4K UHD video. Talk about a new dimension given to video calls.

Previous Butterfly devices have emulated a feature characteristic of the Sony Xperia line, in the sense that they sport waterproof bodies. So we have to assume that HTC will continue to offer this option with the new Butterfly 3.

As you can see, the new Butterfly is expected to be a pretty high-end device, even better than the company’s latest flagship the One M9 which got introduced a month ago at MWC 2015.

The Taiwanese company is expected to roll out the Butterfly 3 by the end of May.
