Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has been long rumored to plan the release of a successor for its HTC Butterfly handset before the end of this year, and it seems that it is indeed nearing the official launch of this device.

The smartphone, supposedly called HTC Butterfly 2, has made an appearance at Taiwan’s FCC equivalent, which is called NCC, and should arrive on the market with model number D816x attached to it and with support for 4G LTE networks inside.

In fact, the mobile phone (which sports the codename of B2_WLJ) has been spotted at the aforementioned certification entity with GSM, WCDMA LTE 700MHz, LTE 800MHz and LTE 1900MHz connectivity packed inside.

At the same time, the NCC listing has confirmed that the new smartphone will include all of the usual connectivity capabilities as well, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC, as htcsoku.info unveils.

While no official confirmation on the handset has been provided as of now, the fact that is has already started to receive the necessary approvals shows that it might not be too long before it is announced.

What remains to be seen, however, is whether it will be launched internationally, or it will remain an exclusive to Taiwan and some other Asian markets.

Its predecessor, the HTC Butterfly, actually came out of Asia, and even arrived in the United States, exclusively to Verizon Wireless, where it featured the name of HTC DROID DNA.

The full hardware specifications of the new mobile phone haven’t been unveiled as of now, though we do have an idea of what the handset might have to offer.

Back in April, the smartphone was spotted in AnTuTu en route to Japan, and that listing unveiled that it would sport a 5-inch touchscreen display capable of a delivering a 1080 x 1920 resolution, as PhoneArena notes.

Moreover, the mobile phone is expected to arrive on the market with a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor inside, paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory (a microSD memory card slot should also be included in the device).

On the back, the upcoming handset is said to sport a 13-megapixel camera, which will be accompanied by a 5MP front camera. The same as its predecessor, the mobile phone will run under Android, most probably under one of the latest versions of the OS.

As mentioned above, no confirmation on the handset has been provided as of now, yet it might not be too long before it goes official, so stay tuned for more info on the matter.
