Leading Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has recently announced the launch of the high-end Android 2.1-based HTC Desire on the market in Hong Kong. According to the company, the new device is set to become available for purchase in Hong Kong exclusively on the airwaves of CSL Limited. The HTC Desire is the latest Android phone from the company to arrive on the market with an enhanced Sense experience, HTC added.

HTC Desire offers a rich way to visually experience news, friends, photos, favourite places and more on a mobile phone. The handset sports a large 3.7 inch AMOLED touchscreen display that boasts a WVGA resolution, offering great viewing of pictures and videos, web pages or social networking sites. The device sports a 1GHz Snapdragon processor inside, an optical joystick for improved navigation, and the latest flavor of the Android operating system, not to mention that it is Adobe Flash 10.1 ready.

“Being the exclusive service provider for the HTC Desire, 1O1O and one2free are proud to bring together the award-winning, high-performance Next G mobile network with the HTC Desire, the latest Android smartphone that offers the best HTC experience to date. The combination will empower our customers to enjoy the compelling benefits of a dynamic and enriching mobile entertainment and social networking in the Web 2.0 era. This collaboration again is built on our passion and shared commitment to develop the most advanced technology that fulfils the promise of the truly mobile lifestyle,” Aenil Premji, chief marketing officer, CSL Limited, commented.

The HTC Sense experience delivered by Desire has been developed with a great focus on putting people at the center by making the device work in a more natural way. There are three main principles that power the experience, namely Make It Mine, Stay Close and Discover the Unexpected, which formed the base of the first Sense solution, HTC notes.

The new experience is meant to improve the manner in which people interact with their friends and family. It comes with a new HTC application and widget called HTC Friend Stream, designed to put together social communication from Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and Plurk in a single view. In addition, Sense enables users organize contacts into specific social circles, including groups of friends, colleagues and more.

The solution also comes with a new seven-screen ‘Leap’ thumbnail view, allowing users to easily access specific screens. “HTC Sense on the new HTC Desire not only delivers one of the most dynamic and personalized user experiences possible, but also one of the easiest ways to interact and integrate social networks into your life,” said Jack Tong, VP of HTC Asia. “It’s the stuff of powerful inspiration.”
